New Siding and Newly Engaged – The House series Part 2
Read Part 1 here.
If you remember, this is what the house looked like in 2010:
Ben drew a rough sketch of what he wanted it to look like… including changing the front [door] from the South side to the East side.
And the makeover began! The new roofing and siding was the one thing that was hired out.
By the time I came to the States and we got engaged {in the front yard of our maybe-someday house, on Valentine’s Day}, the outside was looking beautiful!
The inside…
…had to get worse before it could get better!
One step was, ALL the lath and plaster was now GONE – many dusty hours of work by Ben and friends {thank you all}!
We started off our marriage (2011) doing one of the most stressful things for a marriage: building a house together. More on that later.
We were so blessed to have a great rental to live in – literally across the road from our “house project” – on a farm site owned by a couple from our church. We were just there temporarily for 3-4 months, you know, until we finished the house. Which would be about as quickly and easily as “finish the house” rolls off the tongue. Five and a half years later…
But I’m getting ahead of myself!
